HOW WE STARTED

My name is Kate Bartuccio, I'm a former Architect and Financial Analyst and I founded KEEPER Denim in Perth, Western Australia. I came up with the idea after I watched the True Cost documentary. It opened my eyes to the dark side of the fast fashion industry and the devastation it is having on garment workers around the world and our planet. I knew then that I wanted to part of the positive movement towards a better future and be a catalyst for change in the fashion industry.

During my research I discovered many amazing brands creating ethical and sustainable clothing around the world but there were not many Australian made options. I wanted to showcase the incredible quality that Australian manufacturing has to offer.

My goal was to create ethically made and sustainable pieces that would last a lifetime. This led me to the denim jean – a timeless wardrobe staple, worn all year round and treasured for many years. I am committed to creating pieces that are better for the planet, the people who make them and you – our amazing customers!

THE KEEPER DENIM MOVEMENT

KEEPER Denim is owned, run and designed by women for women. By joining our KEEPER Denim movement, you're helping to create a better future. We know we're not perfect, but we're on a journey and always learning new ways of doing things. We believe we can all have a positive impact on the world, by taking small steps each day – together we can create a better future.

Inspired by strong, confident, independent women, our jeans blur the lines between comfort, style and sustainability. Empowering you to own your uniqueness whilst consciously considering your impact on the planet.

Each pair of KEEPER Denim jeans is ethically handcrafted in Melbourne, Australia. We're dedicated to having a transparent supply chain and each material we use is especially selected based on its’ ethical and sustainable production. This ensures the final piece is of the highest quality.

Our Elwood Skinny Jean is based on a timeless style re-imagined. Made with denim constructed from sustainable, cruelty-free fibres including organic cotton and recycled materials, that respect our planet, to ensure the jean will last and age well with time.

Our jeans are also PETA-Approved Vegan. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organisation in the world. This certification confirms that our jeans are made without the use of any animal products including leather, silk, wool and cashmere.

KEEPER Denim is Climate Neutral certified. To achieve this, we have reduced our carbon emissions where possible and offset the rest by investing in climate change solutions. By investing in projects that are working to reduce global carbon emissions, we can minimise any impact that the manufacturing and transportation of our products have on the environment.

WE GIVE BACK

Carbon emissions, mass consumption and water pollution are some of the major environmental impacts of the fast fashion industry. Since the beginning, we at KEEPER Denim have wanted to support charities that are doing incredible work to help heal these effects on our planet, by donating $5 from each pair of jeans sold. Thanks to your support, we have been able to support two incredible organisations so far:

Water.org

Currently, we are supporting Water.org to help families around the world get access to safe water and sanitation. 785 million people — 1 in 9 — lack access to water. Water.org is an international non-profit organization that has positively transformed millions of lives around the world with access to safe water and sanitation. They do this by empowering families through access to affordable financing and expert resources to make household water and sanitation a reality.

INTERNATIONAL ELEPHANT PROJECT

During our first year we supported the International Elephant Project (IEP) and their work in the conservation of Elephants. The IEP is a not-for-profit organisation who support the conservation of elephants in Sumatra. They do this through the protection of rainforests and local community partnerships.
