HOW DO WOMEN'S JEAN SIZES WORK?

Trying to figure out the way that women’s denim sizing works can be very confusing, between length, rise and fit, it can be overwhelming. To make things worse, there are often 2 numbers to look at when searching for jeans – there is the waist measurement in inches and then the AU clothing size that it converts to. For example, a denim size 30 jean is a 30-inch waist and is equal to an AU clothing size 12.

But don’t worry we’ve got you and we have a simple hack to share that are sure to make things easier when you’re next shopping for a new pair of jeans. See below for our tips on how jean sizes work:

For Women’s Denim Sizes 24 - 29

To find your equivalent AU size, all you need to do is add the 2 digits of your denim waist size together. See below for some examples of how this works:

Denim Size 24 = AU size 6 (2+4 = 6)

Denim Size 25 = AU size 7 (2+5 = 7)

Denim Size 26 = AU size 8 (2+6 = 8)

Denim Size 27 = AU size 9 (2+7 = 9)

Denim Size 28 = AU size 10 (2+8 = 10)

Denim Size 29 = AU size 11 (2+9 = 11)

For Women’s Denim Sizes 30 - 36

To find your equivalent AU size, all you need to do is take the second digit of your denim waist size and add 12. See below for some examples of how this works:

Denim Size 30 = AU size 12 (0+12 = 12)

Denim Size 31 = AU size 13 (1+12 = 13)

Denim Size 32 = AU size 14 (2+12 = 14)

Denim Size 33 = AU size 15 (3+12 = 15)

Denim Size 34 = AU size 16 (4+12 = 16)

Denim Size 35 = AU size 17 (5+12 = 17)

Denim Size 36 = AU size 18 (6+12 = 18)
